The guy had 3 trucks to choose from. I chose the one with aftermarket headlights, but, forgot to grab the bulb retainers He lives about 3 hours away, so I'll check around a few places to see if there's a possibility they may be able to get them up here. As of right now, I have some 16G steel wire wrapped around the rear of the headlights and into the grooves on the housing. Looks a little cockeye the way it is now, but whatever lol, I have both lights again
That was awesome. Love the way you *tell a story*.

OK, here's today's shots... all back together... still need to put on badges (undecided on what at his point)... And I still need to change out the flasher can for an LED version.

Simple and clean looking... I like it... good for another 10-15 years.

I washed mine today. Noticed some rust coming through on my rocker panels. Sucks.

I'm lucky... there was no rust to speak of on mine... but it only spent the first three years of it's life in MI & PA, before heading south to FL... no salt, but lots of humidity down here.

Did you have a paint booth for that? Or just do it in your garage? (it looks REALLY good.)

Just an small industrial bay.
Hose the floor to control dust... upwind door only crack 6" or less, with a fan on low speed a few feet inside... downwind door fully open with the truck just inside.
This way there is little to no "wind" effect... most airborne dust hits the wet floor and is airborne no more... you end up with a light positive flow out of the shop, keeping the paint clean and a minimal over spray cloud to work in.

Used Bulldog primer, Valspar basecoat/clearcoat, and a good buffing after it cured... the bed and steps are done with Raptor.

Friggin' awesome results for what you were working with. Gives me hope I can make my truck look at least decent. I just suck at body work, and I have a LOT of rust repair that needs done. Would be easier just to swap the cab.

A couple of sayings come to mind;
"A good paint job is 90% in the prep"
"A good coat of paint will hide a myriad of sins"
Somewhere between those two you'll find a truck that looks pretty good if you don't get too close.
