What Did You Do To Your 2ND GEN RAM Today?
straightened out my steering wheel by adjusting the sleeve closest to the pitman arm. It didnt take much to straighten it. Installed my new 6x9 s and then moved on to the rears. Got to be careful removing the panel cuz the clips are hot glued in.
Mine is going away tonight. I swapped it for a Prius. Nice mileage & easier to drive and park.
A cool deal. I got the truck about 6 weeks ago for $150. Engine was seized, completely. I had a spare 5.2 which I put in. Runs great. New tires, a general cleanup, and bunches of little things. I figure I've got $1200 or so in it.
I'm not totally out of Dodge trucks, I'll be keeping my 96 Dakota club cab, 4wd, automatic. Nice little truck in decent shape//high mileage, tho.

Really? A Prius? Not even a fun car eh?
Really, a Prius. Most of the time, my driving is to go do errands, etc. In a very stop and go town. Doesn't make sense to be driving a battleship that gets only 14 mpg. As I said, I still have the Dakota which isn't quite so massive.
I pulled out my floor mat with an inch of water on it and dried my carpet. Since a bunch of people around here are still without power I cant complain that this is all I got from Matthew, but now I have to play the find the leak game again. On top of the floor mat so as tricky as that light can be, it can't be the 3rd brake light again. Based on the angle of the parking spot it has to be forward and drivers side. Hopefully this is a quick find and never gets its own thread.
Adjusting the front bumper after a pretty but somewhat clueless female stopped in the outside lane of a busy road to make an illegal u-turn. I was able to stop but kissed her rear bumper just enough to leave an impression of my licence plate there. Ugh! I hate bad drivers.
Sanded and painted my windshield wiper arms. With the cracked dash, peeling paint and cab leak my wife is probably right that the wiper arms are the least of my problems. But I see them when I drive and I needed a quick fix to make me feel better about the rest.
Finally, finally, finally, picked up a Redhead steering gear!!!!!!!!!
Been about ten years of waiting, wishing, waiting, wishing.
Since I live in Everett, it was only an hour drive to Auburn to get one. Nice little shop with friendly sales guy right inside the door. I asked if they give tours, he showed me the shop with hundreds of gears sprawled everywhere. Told me quickly how they rebuild them. Total came to $602 with core charge and tax.
I plan to get a new pump and fluid before I dive in. May be a while before I get to it. But now with HD steering, plus my track bar and Spohn DSS, this should be it. If it doesn't help the steering, I may just retire this truck. It's too dangerous anymore to be seesawing across the passes in rain and snow.
