And to top off my morning, I started to strip the old foam from my headliner.
I’m using a stiff nylon rotary brush... the medium brush just wasn’t doing it... it’s still taking some time, but it is doing the job without damaging the backer.
Started taking the body off of my truck and getting ready to transplant it on the Cummins. Still up in the air if I will keep it a diesel or V8 swap it
Well, I guess this still counts as something I "did" to it lol
Took it for a drive to town and on the way back about 2 miles from town it said OD off, then a second later it said transmission temp, then as I was trying to absorb this information I see smoke coming out the rear end of the truck. Pull over and stop and what do we have here, all sorts of not fun.
I don't even know where the hell the oil could be coming from up there lol. It was still running and driving when I stopped , had it flat towed into town, left it for 7-8 hours, went back and checked oils and it started up and drove forwards and backwards 5 feet and then shut it off again. But uh... Yeah I guess that means spending more money on this thing.
Finally putting a little love back in the front end of my wannabe desert toy/work horse/ aggression reliever (97 1500 [cab]/ 98 2500 [undercarriage]). Did the drag link a couple weeks ago, which took the steering wheel slop from 180 degrees down to about 30 degrees. Tonight I'm doing the ball joints.
Next on the list is either tie rod or unit bearings, depending on what is worse when I have money again. Nice thing about a desert truck is very little rust. Last one I did took about 12 hours per side after soaking everything for a few days in PB Blaster. I'm about 6 hours in now and almost done.
I've been beating on this thing for about 8 years now, and this is the nearly the first thing I've had to do to it (not including the engine mess I made). Driver side ball joint replacement going back together. Napa (Moog) ball joints, Dana 60.
