I didn't think your motor was that old???? Did you rebuild that in recent memory???
Nice to see ya again.
It's that old, I built it in 08 I think. It has around 250k on it. It started to get a rod knock so before I destroyed it I found a good used 5.9 to drop in for the time being. Question is v10 or Cummings swap or build the 5.9 again?

It's good to see you as well.
Holy crap. You drive a LOT..... If I put 5000 miles on my truck in a year, thats a lot.
Building the 5.9 would be the easiest route. The diesel, and v-10 weigh significantly more, and would require some more work to install, especially the diesel..... Much as I love my V-10... (except for the gas mileage....) I think in your case, I would still stick with the 5.9. Just my opinion.

She's all 1 Ton so weight is not a problem. What is a problem up here is finding a flywheel. And then of course is the 2 grand for the nv4500. I'm not going back to a slushbox.
[QUOTE=98Ramboy;3587881]Aftermarket support seems to be lacking on the V10..from what I've heard anyways.
If you mean performance parts yes there has always been very little support for the truck v10. Like headers and cai easy, cam and intake not so much.
Used motor is in. Waiting on a M72hv oil pump.
Waterpump and hb were changed out after this picture. M1 and headers were installed and Mp valve covers.
Braved the heat & humidity to install new battery cables, wire between alternator and fuse/relay box under the hood, and starter since the solenoid terminal broke off when I tried to remove the wire.
Still a number of issues to figure out, but it's progress.
Got lucky and found a '97 Dodge Ram 1500 on Facebook Marketplace that had a very good mist grey lower dash in it. The owner was parting out the truck not too far from me. Pulled the complete dash out of it and brought it home this evening. Hope to be able to get the heater box out of it, too, as it had an OE brass heater core in it. Getting the heater box out of it would allow me to rebuild it at my leisure and swap it into my '96 Ram 2500.

Please let me know how you like the M1 intake once you get the truck up and running. I found one a few years ago, but haven't installed it yet.

This is what i did, Problem was the aftermarket brass heater core sprouted a leak a year later and had to take it out again. I put a new one in thinking it would not leak. I was debating to use the oe one but they don't have such a great track record either.
