The whine of a Dremel at 3AM is sure to attract attention.

I thought about the handle lock, but a pry bar will defeat one of those in a few seconds so any opportunistic broke-*** kid who doesn't mind a busted handle will still get the tailgate in short order and without a lot of noise. This one, hopefully, will send him looking for easier pickings after he gives a tug only to find that my tailgate doesn't want to go home with him.

For just $18, it's worth a try anyway.

didnt you just have it rebuilt?

try having the fluid flushed, have a machine hooked up to it to flush it out... i wouldnt drive it either, you might be able to save it...

Well we had a nice little storm this morning about 4:30 am, and after the wind died and the rain subsided, I descovered my boat, which I though had been securely chocked and chained down in the driveway, decided to get a bit too cozy with my truck
After prying them apart, I was relieved to find one small dent in the quarter panel and some scraped off paint.
Now the boat is back in the garage.
It gets better. I had parked the GF's Ranger in there to keep it out of the weather. The wind shear was bad enough to blow the wood hatch that was the attic door out of its hole in the garage ceiling and onto the hood of her truck.
Again, one small dent, but I'd just spent 210 bucks on dedenting her entire truck at the local dent doctor. So I was really pissed off about that.
I did get a present from ebay today...so I started installing those.

Today I installed the BackRack, but have to take it back up again to trim away the bits of the bedliner that interfere with the toolbox rails. It was either install it or lug it into the house so on it went, and I'll hack up the bedliner later. Much later, when it's got a fresh paint job I'll install a new liner and rail caps and it'll sit correctly without hacking.

Unfortunately, "no drilling on most models" doesn't mean no drilling on a second generation Ram. It required four holes in the front stake pocket wells. I'd rather have holes there than in my head when a chunk of firewood or a chainsaw come through the back window, so it was an easy trade-off to make.

My black Delta gullwing toolbox is scheduled to ship on the 19th, so after it's here and installed I'll snap a picture or two to show off. Not that toolboxes and headache racks are all that exciting, but WTF.
