lol....they arent bad if you maintain them. mine was rebuilt at 177K....i have 204K now, and since then ive overheated it like 5 times, took on water, and drove it 12 miles with water in it, with it slippin and not shifting out of first, and running it with no flui when my line blew.......still my tranny shifts perfect lol. just maintain it.
Hit 170,000 miles on the odometer and still got the stock tranny and who says dodge trannys suck

mine went after i was rear ended around 68,000 miles, it started shifting funny, and got progressivily worse, until i only had 1st gear and reverse would be a constant shudder. now im at just under 72,000 she still shifts firm, not one problem. (knocks on wood)
i agree, our tranys come down to the maint.

it had a loose contact in the connector so i took the connector apart, and used a pick to close the gap in the connector a little, put it back together, and no more loosing contact.
I bought ball joints for my truck..ran me $240..then took it to the shop to get someone to look at my truck and see if anything else was wrong with it..not such a fun day for my bank account!! lol.

I would love to know! I far as our trannies go, I think we got good stuff from the factory. Like everyone says...just maintain them properly, and they WILL last a long time/many miles!
My 99 Ram 1500 ext cab s/b 5.9L auto - had 98K when I sold it, stock tranny was still working great, just had a hard shift into second
My 97 Black Betty - used to be a plow truck before I bought it, I drive the **** outta it, lossed over 3 qts of fluid cause of rusted trans lines, and still to this day @ 110K it shifts flawlessly.
MY 96 Indy 500 408 Stroker - I found out it still has a stock 46re, and @ 169K I am really impressed for it to be holding up as well as it is considering there is 412HP at the rear wheels...
Fords are the ones that got sh!tty trannies. My buddies '02 7.3 Stroke is on his 4th tranns @ 213K...pathetic
