Yeah, those crossmembers are fun. Am I seeing things or is that one tire in the picture on its wear bars?

Heh, that right rear is showing wear bars and has a bulge. The left rear is my spare, which is the best wheel on the truck. The fronts are a bit better, but not by much. Hopefully, I can come up with enough scratch to get new rubber by the end of July.

Used tires man, they're $25 a pop around here.
All you need to know is how to read the date code on the tires to make sure they're not more than 4 or 5 years old and you need to put a knee on each one to check for dry-rot.
There's a couple tire places here that store their used tires inside so most of them are in pretty good shape.

Default Hacked off door bottom

Yo! My first post. Today I took the passenger door off and chopped the inner & outer panel bottoms off. they're totally rusted through. Grabbed a welder off craigslist and started practicing welding! Got some replacement panels to slap on once I my welding mojo improves.

If you haven't heard of them before, there's a grinding wheel called a flap wheel for angle grinders. One of those will clean up the weld nicely so you won't have a bulge when you paint the door. Just make sure you get one in a fine grit and use light pressure.

Ya, I picked up a bunch of those, 40, 60, 80, & 120 grits. Once the doors are done, there's a bunch of smaller spots I'm gonna clean up too.

I ain't scared & I ain't proud!

I'm a computer nerd in my day job so this will be a change of pace. Haven't welded since 8th grade.

My primary goal is that the door closes once I put it back on. If it looks half decent ( and passes inspection) that'll be a bonus.
