Good point.... But after having someone slowly turn the wheel back and forth while I was under the truck I discovered I may not even need to replace mine...I can movement from side to side where the pitman are bolts up and the brace I just bought will eliminate that. That combined with the slight amount Of slop in my steering shaft that I'm replacing should do the trick.

After 4+ days of rain I got outside and wiped down one of the bed sides with scratch x and goo gone.
Sprayed some primer on the light bezels. With luck I'll shoot color this weekend.

Spent some quality time with my truck this weekend........

Started with the driver side bearing hub, upper & lower ball joint & axle u-joint. Was a alot of struggle getting everything apart. The upper ball joint literally exploded using a ball joint press.

Decided to move on to the front drives haft and did the Double Cardan rebuild. Breaking the H Flange was a hiccup there and while tougher than anticipated, wasn't bad in the end.

Next is off to passenger side to fix oil seal, replace upper & lower ball joints and u-joint. I am crossing fingers that the hub is ok or I dont destroy it taking it out.

I guess after this will be time to tackle the plenum. I keep getting the catalytic code and strongly suspect this is an issue.

after that or maybe before hand I need to do something about the charcol canister. Not sure if to buy new or how to go about that yet, haha.

Pics are of the leftover over shrapnel & the Cardan Joint

Thanks to this forum the job is done, probably would still be wrestling with it without it, haha

I MARVELLED at what an amazing difference in gas mileage a really good tune-up appears to have made. We'll see.

Oh, and I added an aftermarket keyless entry system. Not that exciting.

What was involved with the tune up? I'm always interested in what I can do to improve mileage, lol

Cap, Rotor, Wires, Plugs, PCV Valve (from the dealer only.), air filter, oil change. If your truck is over 100K miles, Pre-cat O2 sensor as well. (NTK, or Denso please.)

I've never touched the cap & rotor or pcv valve. Plugs I have. Will add it to the list when I do the plenum/timing chain job.

Cap and rotor is downright easy with the intake out of the way.
