The unfortunate 4 years I lived in Ohio, that was how I fixed my exhaust pipe. An aluminum can and a couple hose clamps. And when my car died a few years later out in California, the can and clamps were still working.

One of my cats has been rattling pretty bad, so today I swung through a Monroe shop on the way home from work.

A little over $2000 to replace both cats.

I didn't want to crawl under there, but it looks like I'll be wasting another Saturday soon.

that is good to hear. that will give me couple years to try fixing it as long as the emission people don't notice it when i have to take my ramcharger in to be tested in 2 years. it looks like the pipe must have cracked all the way around. i hope all the muffler cement and the 2 pop cans will hold it all together good. as much as i would like to have a loud truck i don't want to be getting pulled over all the time.

i think you could do it yourself for maybe $500. i guess the biggest expense it getting the cats and they got to make money on already expensive cats.

I stopped more for a price reference than to have it done. They wanted $900 each for direct replacement cats plus a couple hours labor. Pass.

I can get direct replacement walkers for around 280. Universal replacements are about 90 or so. I hate doing exhaust work. It never comes apart for me. I usually get pissed and take the sawzall to it and start fresh.

i like using a grinder. cutting slits in certain parts makes things come apart fairly easily and if you have to you could weld up that slit and it would be like brand new again.
