Since the shooting at Ft. Hood and the motel raid there recently, local cops there are on high alert all the time. The guy was walking down a county road and people living in the area were concerned. Cops ALWAYS disarm anyone they are talking to for safety. (Temple is about a half hour away from me...) Not saying the cop was 100% in the right, but the guy did not follow legitimate police orders. And if he had a concealed carry permit, the law REQUIRES CHL holder to offer it up as soon as confronted by police. He was ranting in the local papers that they did not ask him for it. Not their job to ask every person they meet if that person has a CHL.

First I've heard about. From what I read they lowered the charge too. If carrying a rifle, the way he was is legal in Texas, regardless of past events people should be AWARE of the gun laws before they go calling the police.

True. But if I see a guy carrying a M16 down the road where I live, I would call the cops and want them to check him out.....legally. And here in Texas, you cannot shoot on, across, or from a road.
And he claims he was on a scout hike with his son? I was an Eagle Scout, and never had the need to be armed for a hike. Even at Philmont, with mountain lions and bears. They guy was not being smart (armed like that walking down a county road). And CHL means concealed.... He should have laid down the firearms, and the cop was a *****.
And we will never know the whole story. Ten yard penalty on all players!

Yup, lots of season left to play. Lots of time for Atlanta to keep piling on the wins!
Sadly the Braves have a sucky lineup for Inter-league play. Be nice to show them Rangers how it's done!
