No no, I meant having a dashmat in the first place alleviates this problem.

But hey, what do I know?

I also do not think I should have to pay for the dash or the labor. This truck is only four years old, and the dashboard is not even discolored from the sun yet. I'm actually looking for people with similar problems (and similar year truck) so that we can get dodge(Daimler/Chrysler) to put a recall on it. I love my truck, and I love getting it muddy but I am very disappointed in the dashboard.[:@]
add me too the list of angry 2001 ram owners who's dash has started too crack and is a awful eye sore, not too speak of the danger and harm that could potentially injure or maim myself or passengers. Dodge really has too take responsibility before it's too late. I've spoken too Dodge and too a dealer and dodge agreed too pay 1/2 but the dealer wants over 1200 meaning i have too come up with over 600 for something dodge refuses to own up too. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE DODGE !!!!!!!!!!

james - I would be hesitant. I had mine replaced by dodge after it started cracking. I immediately ordered a sunshade and put it up every time my truck was parked. The new one did the same thing.

I ended up putting a carpet type cover over mine. I hate it but it serves its purpose. My advice is just to get a plastic cover and be doen with it. WIll be a lot cheaper and less hassle. Of course it may not be an exact match but from most reviews people hardly notice the difference.

Go to www.lmctruck.com. They have good molded ones in a variety of colors that you adhere directly over the factory dash. They look good if you do a good job on it...I think they're around $130 or so...

Default '02 Cracked Dash

I have an 02 and my dash is cracked to hell. I thought I was the only one. I do have a BRUTAL system in it. Knocks my rearview off ALL the time. Threadlocker?? Took out the OEM console in the middle and put 2 12 inch speakers there aiming downward and replaced all the door speakers with top of the line audio speakers. 2 amps running the whole system and I thought thats what did it, but maybe not....110,000 miles and rolling STRONG! The tranny did blow on me but luckily I had extended warranty! 100 bucks for a new one! At the dealer mind you. Here she is:

Few mods, cut the exhaust off and put flows on it and dumped them at the muffler. People come to me ALL the time and ask what i have in it....HA Ive had 92 Mustangs and NEVER has anyone been taken so aback by the exhaust. Notice you cant see any tips or pipes. Will run this truck to the ground and get an 09 in about 2 or 3 years USED of course! Anyway, will replace dash I suppose.

Default getting something done about my cracked dash

I have the same problem. 01 ram 3500 deisel. I just called the company and they told me I need diagnostics before they will help me with the cost. did I forget to tell you I was irate when I called? I let them know that. I have been to the local dealer who wouldn't even step out of the office to look at it because I wasn't the original owner and it wasn't a recall. So I complained to the local dealer also. Needless to say, they are working on my vehicle next monday. I own three rams. This is the only one cracked(SO FAR), our 97 never cracked, great truck. BUt my 3500 is caved in, the folding cup holder broke off, and the bezel is cracked. Needless to say, now my temperature guages don't work for the transmission. We'll see what happens on monday.

Default factory overlay.

I priced a new dash. 600 for the dash, plus 180 for shipping. not counting labor. outrageous. I thought about the overlay, but I have no dash to attach it too. If that ain't funny, nothing is. I'm thinking about buying a new truck. I am a huge dodge fan. But I can't help but think about buying a ford. I always try to buy from a private party to avoid the dealerships. I thought about trading my dodge in, handing the problem off to them. They can actually repair the entire front end for about 250.

seriously? That's the point. I bought this truck, paid good money, cared for it, and when I have a stupid problem that seems to be affecting a lot more people than me, they dont stand begind their product, or treat you like crap...oh...and then lets see, how much $$ are we spending as taxpayers bailing them out? dashmat? SERIOUSLY?

Add me to the list. I did use armor-all and I think that it provoked it. So, today I ordered a dash cap off ebay for $119 shipped....black.

Oh well....it is a 98, it just started cracking due to my dash light putting pressure/vibration on it.
