2001 Dashboard Cracks
#343
My dash WAS cracked, Now it has a hole near the defrost vent that I could put my fist through, and one farther up that i could probably fit my head into if I wanted... WTF!!!!! Dodge has been a stable performer, but even with media coverage, and all of the complaints regarding safety, etc. they still do nothing but refuse to serve what few loyal customers they have... I read somewhere that Chrysler is facing trouble AGAIN!!!! Wonder if this could be due mostly to the fact of people just getting frustrated with them completely when the act like tards when you try to get any result at all? All things considered, I love my truck, and was always a fan of the body design, and the 5.9 engine but it would only make for the best truck with a Chevy interior. Sad isn't it? Oh well, just had to vent that little thing seeing that it is the main frustration with almost every one of us.

2001 Dashboard Cracks
Everyone,
I don't know if this will help you but I am going to give it a try. I experienced the same problems that all you are having with the dashboards on the 2001 Dodge Ram trucks cracking. I went to my local dealer ship to get some estimates on replacing the dashboard. My 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 5.9L has 196,000 mi. on it this year. So it is definitely out of warranty. The dealership quoted me $1,400 for parts and labor to repair the dashboard. You can imagine what I told them. With all the phone calls back and forth I ended up befriending one of the service reps. She gave me some inside information on this problem. There is a class action lawsuit against Dodge. She instructed me on calling the 1-800 number and asking for help due to the fact, that there is a class-action lawsuit. After getting Dodge corporate involved. Which was not easy!!!! They came up with a good-faith cost totaling $300.00. Even though they (DODGE) should have paid the whole expense I thought it was reasonable. If you're persistent and do not take no for an answer. They quite possibly could work the same deal for you.

Yes indeed, how do we get another crappy, cracking-after-a-few-thousand-miles Dodge dash installed?
For $100 or less on top of that $300, you can install a quality dash made by a non-OEM company that will last a lot longer than the Dodge unit. Look through parts of this thread, many different companies do it.

well I changed my heater core this weekend and my old dash exploded into a million pieces. So I called a junk yard and they quoted me one for $200.00 not cracked and they pull it. So I told them i would take it. So I go get and take it home and it looks like the updated dash from the dealership. It even feels different.
