Default Educate Me Please

ok, i know theres alot of talk that goes on and most dont follow through but....

i plan on rebuilding the top end of my motor in the spring....since my new job will allow me to .......but i was just getting some ideas and i was looking at pistons and ring kits.

Now my question is what is the stock bore size on my pistons? I dont plan on building up the engine, just rebuild it with stock parts....

I was also looking at a MP PCM, now if i were to get that, does it require that i upgrade parts? Is it only for a built engine?

ill think of more questions, just thought id start with this.

I suggest you take them, when/if you get the TC saver. I've only been holding them for you. When you see them, you will be amazed.

the piston/ring sets are only $400, and the PCm is $250....also want some , loaded heads, and VC's, but thats about it.....not that bad of a job either...just thought of the heads...so it might be like a $13-1400 job, not bad though......people pay that for a set of tires lol...

First, you need to decide what you end goal is going to be. Do you want high horsepower? Gobs of torque? Figger out WHERE you want your power to be. Then, select parts towards that goal. You can't really have both.... although, more cubes will bump the numbers up across the board.

Then, once you have your parts picked out, you need to see if the block is going to need machine work. You can't just slap a set of stock pistons in there, if the bores are out of round, tapered, or have any other irregularities. You won't do yourself any favors that way.... To change pistons, you are going to have to COMPLETELY disassemble the engine anyway... so, having ALL the parts thoroughly checked out should become part of the plan. (machine work is where engine building gets expensive.......) And, since the engine is already scattered about the garage.... putting in things like new bearings, oil pump, and various other 'little' parts is an extremely good idea.

Zman, i know ill grab the t-case saver before x-mas, but the doors will have to be after....
