I seriously had plans to print that thread off and disseminate it around to younguns.. as a lesson as to WHY you DON"T EVER BS - whether it's an anonymous internet forum or at the local bar..

yeah, if you didn't read it you missed out on a good laugh, and an interesting study on the dichotomy of what you find on message board forums on the web.. the split being the folks who come to message boards bearing truth and represent themselves as they likely actually are, and then those who construct an alter ego of some sort and attempt to pass it as an authentic representation of their true selves, when it is far from that..

we had ourselves an epic thread here just a little while ago that demonstrated precisely what happens when someone is 'found out'.. and it was funny..

Mods: is that accurate enough to keep from being edited?

 

Yeah, that thread seems to have wandered off to the areas that only the mods/admins can see. I am quite sure they preserved that one for posterity. Not sure why it got nuked though.

 

It got nuked because it got way to personal. When you start posting personal links and information about someone else without their consent (regardless of how much they may have brought it on by their posting behaivior), it is bordering on harassment and bullying. We won't have that here, and honestly you don't want to be tied up in that should it really take a bad turn. It started out funny, but just went too far. Thats all.

 

it had jumped off topic big time by the last few pages. i completely understand why it was locked and deleted.

yeah, he went from getting a whoopin' to getting pounded.. It was too much.. If you were to take the personal issues out though, it was a great lesson in why lying is a bad thing- and what can happen to you if you do..

A matter of fact, it is also a great lesson in why you should be very careful in the information you share on the internet- he was a target because he made himself one, but that could have been any of us who have dropped a little info here or there, and proof that someone can -if given the time and motivation- find out a heckuva lot about you..

at any rate.. it was interesting.. now it's gone.. life goes on.. the thread I'm most interested in now is the DIY on external filter.. reasons like that draw most of us here in the first place anyway..

 

All good things must come to end.....it would be nice to use that thread as a poster as why not to make up things on the forum because you can only bs for so long before your caught and then we can dig up things you never thought we could.
