Thank you. Weather and business travel have slowed my progress, but as it is not DD, it is not a problem. Just the Type A personality in me wants everything done....NOW......

Wife just left for the wwekend with her dad....so I am home alone with my trucks and cars...maybe I will get primer down this weekend.

Not yet. I had to pull wheels off to finish welding the flange on fender. Then decided to pull drums off to check condition of rear brakes and they were crap. Coiuld not finish them today as some of the springs are broken and part of it had been "rigged" by a previous owned (the idiot). So now I am waiting on parts. Also replaced wheel cylinders and wife is out of town for weekend so I cannot bleed them until she returns. Painted hub and drum and cleaned it up a lot, but new touch screen phoe is a real PITA. In addition to it talking to me during meetings (yeah, that's embarrasing!) it somehow started deleting photos in front of my eyes.....

Since truck is on stands in the garage and I cannot roll back outside to wash off again, I decided to crack open differential and check its condition (you would think I would learn!). Everything there is good and since cover seal was leaking, I had alrady picked up gasket. So I fixed that little issue.

I did peel the plastic piece off tailgate and sand tailgate down this evening. Will probably prime it tomorrow.

Trying to figure out how I am going to be able to reach the entire roof to spray as well as the hood. If I had help to remove hood I would pull it and put on sawhorses so I could reach all of it.

I am thinking of sanding inside bed and doing bedliner on it. SHould I prime this before bedliner or just sand and clean and roll or spray bedliner on?

Also, every time I get it sanded and think I am ready to prime, I find another little bitty ding that needs a spot of filler....and resanding. I am off on Monday so hoping I can make some real progress this weekend. Have to trevel out of town for work every week for the next three weeks. Sure takes a chunk out of my play time!

Just make sure there it a good etching primer on any exposed metal , other than that just sand the shine off the paint in the bed and spray it on thick !

The bed is scratched up so bad and in some places down to bare metal.

What is an etching primer? Would this be different from the PPG high build 2K primer I have for the rest of the truck?

On an unrealted topic....one of my nephews called last night and is wanting to sell me his 1952 chevy 5 window pick up. May hold off on the Kaiser. Always wanted an early chevy truck......

What is an etching primer?
Etching Primer prepares bare metal, aluminum and fiberglass surfaces to promote maximum adhesion and smoothness of the top coat.

OK. I just checked my receipt for my paint. I did get one gallon of JP215 which is an etching primer. I knew I was going to seand new weld in panels to bare metal and several other places as well. At the piant store, the counter person was very helpful (I told him this was the first paint job I was attempting) and asked questions about project and offered suggestions and made sure I had what I needed. He also prointed of a number of sheets and went through them with me making notes on them. I was impressed that he would take so long with an ameteur. (He doesn't know that I have 4 project cars and looking at another!)

The Ram was her idea (yes, I remind her of that occasionally - as I am spending money on it). It was to help her brother out. Three I had before we got married, so there is not problem there. She actually wants the Jag as her DD! The most recent acquisition is just like the one she learned to drive.....and she thinks it is cool, so I may be OK on it. And then the 52 chevy truck - well she is out of town and does not know anything about it, which is whay I may give up the idea of the 49 Kaiser (my way of negotiating) for the 52......

Between the line of work I am in and letting her bring her elderly father into our home to take care of him, she is very tollerant of my car hobby and my photography hobby.....
