Your Plenum Gasket Pictures -- Post Up
@Blue Mopar -- We all know what the bottom side of the pan looks like.
What we care about in this thread is the condition of the "Gasket". Pictures of that dude! Are you saying you just replaced the gasket or did you do something else? Mileage and any other comments from your experience could be helpful to others.
@spun360 -- So you are also replacing your gasket given an AL plate is being used with your fabbed up turtle. Also, picture of your original gasket, mileage, etc. As for the turtle, the fab work looks good. How did you determine what "Size" to make it? You know height, length, etc.? Turtles I've seen (bolted in) have basically been small triangle or pyramid. You've got much more volume in your turtle. Is it installed and running yet? Might be good of you to start a separate thread to share the completeness of your turtle experience.
Thanks for the contributions guys!

Driven it yet?
have had it for years! the plenum was fixed in the old motor. then realized a few of the cylinders had low compression numbers. still the mod gave me a good kick in the pants.
worked so well, the kegger mod was installed over my freshened and camed new motor. i really enjoy it!
question about this site. how come i am restricted on the picts?

I will get the right pics later. I gotta say after the PITA this fix was I'm really pleased with it. Returned power back to my truck, hills aren't as bad as they were and overall power was better. That was just stock too not with tuner. Word of caution when you take off your intake I'd try to take it off the way you would to put on but backwards (make sense lol?) that way you might not snap a bolt like I did haha.

As far as pictures, we are all restricted on this site...use tinypic or photobucket to host them.

So QCL -- It's hard to tell, but did the gasket fail at the back near the dizzy? Cmon man details. Mileage? Gasket replacement? Plate replacement? Pan itself appear super clean.... Bad PCV, parking with the front end nose high? lol

The gasket doesnt really look like it failed, actaully looked like a rather fresh gasket. It does usually get parked nose high and that small pool of oil was at the back near the dizzy. Approx 210k miles on it. I just shortend the bolts and reused the pan with a felpro gasket coated in copper coating. Too bad it still has a horrible miss on number 8, even after a new head. Im afraid the truck is terminal now. Either going to trade it in, part it out, or burn it. Havent decided yet.
Ok, thanks for clarifying b/c I was like....what's wrong with that?!?! lol There was no need to shorten the bolts.
For the miss, were you able to verify that it does get a pulse and it does shoot fuel? I'm guessing you've checked all the classic symptoms related to this? Maybe it's a ghost miss, just like shortening the bolts? :P
Get rid of it!
