I am not too impressed with what I see though; a 3-4 hp gain over (how your truck sits with its current mods) is minimal at best. I see an approx. increase of 20ftlb tq and that was achieved by removing the death flash/tq management from the pcm. I would now consider your 2nd run as your new baseline. I look forward to seeing just how the sct does with other mods added, different fuel used in the truck and the other tunes used. If this was done on a 97 and under truck and all I saw was a 3-4 hp increase and not much of a tq increase(no tq management on these year trucks to remove) I would not be impressed with those numbers for the cost for the sct.

Very good info thanks.
was thinking the same thing.... shorty headers are reported to gain up to 7hp and everyone says its not worth the money but the Tuner is what $265? for 3-4 hp? you can get that with a properly set up ram air CAI that can be made for like $50?

OK?... So how does that make the sct tuner a better value... We dont want reasons why it doesnt perform as expected? How will that justify buying one? he's basically saying the canned tunes dont really work in most cases if I'm understanding this right?
And no offense to everyone who talks of seat of my pants improvement...I've spent enough money on mods to know how it has a psychological effect on my perception to justify my expense...The numbers dont lie... thats were the FACTS separate myth from marketing... this is also why Dyno results are used so little in marketing "performance" products...
I am also interested in going with an sct but it just always seems like theres some excuse why things dont seem to pan out... I'll admit I can seem to keep things from constantly breaking without a tuner so I can see why this happens sometimes but I would expect someone like hemifever to have lots of dynoresults he could be posting to prove his work? howelse would he know the results of his mods and tweaks? And why else wouldnt you publish such results unless your afraid it might hinder sales more than it helps?

That's the point. I am not aware of any single mod for under the price of an SCT that will bump torque that much.

I wouldn't have gotten the sct if I didn't have the death flash. I didn't get a truck to make it fast. It did make a noticeable difference in performance though and mileage has gone from 10.5 consistently to 11.3 consistently.

best performance bang for the buck is going to be heads, cam, and valvetrain.
