It didn't come standard until 2000 or so. If you truck was never brought in for a performance problem, they wouldn't just flash it for giggles..... maybe you got lucky.

Well im dealing with a potential plenum problem now(possibly)...So I wont really know if its seems underpowered. It does now(power wise) till you hit about 2500rpm or so..About 3k or so it pings sometimes(let off quick lol)..I bought it that way due to price an I was in love..I have been driving it little to none till i get it sorted out..

They are supposed to put a sticker on it when they do flash it.

Yep, and what you describe sounds a lot like symptoms of a blown plenum. Mine was gutless till about 2500-3000 RPM, and then it was like someone flipped a switch, and all the power was there.

After I fixed it, it runs like that ALL the time now. I like it.

No No..Mine has tons of low end...Its kinda surges like a small miss about 2500 or so..An if its under load at high 2000 or 3k it will ping sometimes..Did tune up except coil to start with an oil change..Helped but not fixed...Still need to spray some ether an check for vac leaks

When I bought my pick up it had some issues and the dealer I bought it from (used car dealer) brought it to a chrysler dealer and they told me the updated the software. There is no sticker on it, so either they didn't put the sticker on or they didn't do it. Not sayin this is your case though. I don't think the death flash would cause the pinging (i believe the flash was made to STOP pinging). Still you should check and make sure your plenum is/isnt blown, can't hurt any
