Default Clearcoat over herculiner??

Hey you guys, just wondering if putting clear coat over herculiner will work or not, I remember a thread on here where a guy sprayed rhino liner on his whole truck and painted and cleared over that, but he never reported back if it lasted. I heculined my rockers, but after a couple months it faded and now looks more dark grey... I plan in the near future sanding down some areas where I got rust , fixing it, then re-applying herc and clearing over that to keep it shiny. Thanks for any input!

Some good tire shine should bring the color back

And attract every bit of dirt imaginable. I wonder if a clear with a flex agent would adhere?

Ok, maybe I'll try that for the time being. I guess I was wondering if the clearcoat would stay on the liner, I don't mind bein the guinea pig on this, jus wonderin if theres any reasons this would not work?

Flex agent is real - think of clear over palstic bumper parts.

I would check with paint supplier (assuming it is not just a FLAPS) and see waht they say. I would think someone like a PPG dealer would know...

Ok, i dont know what FLAPS is, i'm just getting into the world of body work/paint so i dont know a whole lot, lol. Would a flex agent be absolutely necessary though, since when the liner is on the steel, there aint a whole lotta flexin happenin, i can see how it would help though

I didn't put clear on mine and it's held its color very well for a good time now with no fading.

FLAPS= Friendly Local Auto Parts Store. (thanks VW. )

I think there is a UV protectant coating for rhino liner, and similar products...... rough equivalent of clear coat?
