While replacing carpet today, I noticed that there is about 1 1/2" of the trottle cable hanging out above the pedal. I can pull the pedal up and it takes out the extra cable length. Is this normal or is there an adjustment at the TB or is there seomthing wrong at the pedal that prevents the pedal from returning to the top of its range of motion? I started to attempt to remove the pedal to make fitting the carpet easier, but the part that it pivots on is plastic and I am pretty certain that it would have broken on me!

It's common as dirt, and the result of cable stretch. Some guys just shim the sleeve with tie wraps, but the correct fix is to replace the cable.

After fixing it you'll be able to actually get WOT again. Just now you're hanging up at about 3/4 WOT. You'll be able to see this if you have a helper mash the pedal to the floor while you observe the throttle butterfly.

My cable has that slack in it but the butterflies still open a full 90 degrees.

I did not open the hood and look at cable because I knew it would be followed by removing it...and I would not get back to carpet. So this is now added to my list (damn thing keeps growing...I owuld like to think the list should be getting shorter. What's up with that?) I think I will go ahead and order this cable and take care of it when I install the HS rockers - probably next weekend.

I will check that tomorrow.

Also, thinking about dressing up the engine bay a little bit. Trying to decide if I want to change valve covers.

Nice covers for sure. Can't go wrong either way IMO!

Yea I had been eyeballing those for quite a while, but haven't wanted to drop the change on something that just looks pretty on a stock motor.
