E Fan and other work
gd -- you're gonna be ecstatic about the fans. Sunday they were a charm given the slow speed and longer idle times from trail running and the occasional romp over snow drifts.
Very easily heard and my buddies were like -- here comes the jet engine!

Took wife and FIL out to dinner tonight and stopped by Autozone on the way home. Couple guys working on a beat up 2nd gen. I left engine running with AC on (still 90 degrees) and they both looked over with a quizzical look when I pulled up. With AC on both fans running 100%. Had to turn radio all the way down before I could hear it, and barely...but upon opening the door they were whining. Extra soundproofing in cab really helps. I am almost comfortable enough to put it on the highway for a road trip. I plug in MTG to look at actual number sometimes. I am amazed at how cool this engine runs and how quickly those fans pull the temp down. It may have cooled as well with mech fan, but I had no reason to check actual temp so I can't argue one way or another. I do like the extra roominess in the engine bay. Less clutter looks better.
I've driven the Ram to work and around town for three days now. Temp hangs around 183 degrees and it has been 90 and above outside. Did have a short panic moment this morning. Opened gargae door, got in truck and crankied it up. Fans started running 100% before I got it out of garage! Then I realized the AC was turned on with the fan at low speed........syetem is set up to turn fans on at 185 OR if AC is turned on, then they both run 100%. Turned off AC and all was good!
Mine came with a wire to tap AC clutch. If yous didn't it could still be done. If you can post the wiring diagram for yours, we can see the best way to tap in.
And Wh1t3NuKle, I am ecstatic about the e-fan. I watch temp now just to see how it stays soncstant, and in traffic when it starts to go up, seeing how fast it comes back down. I have not installe dthe status indicator yet. Can't decide where to put it. May put it on gauge pod on A Pillar.
If you have the diagram, I can figger it. You can PM (if you can add attachment?) of e-mail or post here. OBDI or II doesn't matter, it doesn't go through PCM. I used a realy to add this to my Jag several years ago to keep the temp from shhoting up so fast before fans cut on.
I'll probably install e-fans on my Yota next .... or when I get to it.....

I wanna say I hit wire 86... definitely either that or 87. But it's late and I'm not gonna go check on it right now.
What I did to find the right one was run the truck (it needs to be below the temp where it kicks on automatically) and strip enough of that wire to stick it down there and test each relay wire. You gotta make sure it stays off when the A/C is clutch is disengaged, and comes on when the clutch engages. I had a bit of an issue with this cuz my A/C system sucks(low pressure, probably leaks pretty good), so the clutch comes on and off sporadically, but once I figure that out it was easy.
