Good to see there is active discussion and attempts by organizations. Aside from that, the real thread that is capturing the show is on Pirate. Carl Jantz of Super Jeep is actually participating and providing excellent insight. Unfortunately, there are some moments that are true human behaviors being captured. Also add the factor that when there is TV camera on you, things happen (knowing and unknowingly) of the person, then there is what might have been construed by the production crew. Read the thread and it's very helpful.
The underlying message though is that the show provides no disclaimers with respect to trail use in the context of the race. The greatest concern is feeding the masses that what is seen is what "actually" happens when out wheeling. I'd wager that in this day, there is much greater aptitude on responsible wheeling.
As for the partcipants...the actual Alaskan Wheelers (those being represented on the show) are being tooled by the so-called Lower 48ers (Jantz and Codawg). The Alaskans show how petty they are and really is a result of being unprepared. The show obviously is reeling in the Super Jeep to keep things interesting... I will say I would like to see Shay and brother in the 4runner do well.

It's a good point to keep in mind what the law size and then following up with actual LEO interpretation to enforcement actions. I've had positive discussions with LEOs over the past couple years. I encourage anyone looking at such mods to also check their local/state laws. The internet is not the final source of info. The state patrol and Dept. of Motor Vehicles are, which is a great point to raise HY.
Bumper looks good, nice fab work.
Having two swing points on the swing out should hold up great, better than the single spindle used on most.
Plans for another swing out on the other side? For Jerry cans or Hi-Lift/axe/shovel/etc?

A bunch of posts have gone away. If you guys want to continue that particular discussion, take it to PM's. It has gone way past a 'legal' debate. This is a great thread, I don't want to have to lock it.
Ding Dang,
That was a ton of BS................................................ .......................................
WK,
I think the guards look great and even if you were coming up on your truck in the lane next to you your tail lights are still visible. Heck people who put those smoked covers on their tail lights are blocking them more.
Washington has the same law about mud flaps and I have been pulled over once in my truck and once in my Jeep. Both times I was polite and took the chewing. By the way our law reads up here most New 4X4 Fords and Dodges being sold off a dealers lot are not legal.
I'll go check the thread on Pirate out. Yes I got the show on the brain cause I was excited when I saw the title. I lived in Alaska as a kid and then was stationed there in the Army so I went wheeling a few times myself.
Happy New Year to everyone
