Hey guys, been a while since I've posted. Trucks been parked with a blown tranny for the past month. It's been a tough decision but with my new job I think I've decided I'm going to keep her. I've put too much time and had too much fun with her. I just signed a 5 year contract with the mining company I work for so things are looking up. I am very fortunate to have this job. Anyways, the wife and I have agreed that our main focus right now is upgrading to a nicer place probably within the year and a big shop is in my list of wants. After that, I'm going to bring the truck back to life but in a way that is going to be time consuming, costly and just downright awesome. If everything works out, I want to build it from the ground up with a 408 stroker, built transmission, Dana 60 and 70 combo, 39" tires, 5.13 gears, 241 case, and a body restoration. I will have it 100% road legal and offroad worthy.

This probably won't happen for at least a year or more and even then may take 2-3 years to complete. I may even put a tranny in it for temperary purposes but there's a lot more wrong with the truck than just the tranny.

Here she sits in all her glory

The 408 Stroker seems to be beating a lot of people, think outside the box, put a Cummins in it!

Nah, too heavy and unoriginal. Never been a fan of diesels, especially in Canadian winters.

Ever heard of the Dakota from Hell? It's a 360 that he turbo'd. I've become obsessed with this and eventually may do this but with a 408. I've got the build specs from forums to make it near bullet proof with a turbo.

Very cool project, can definately respect the amount of time and quality of work you've put into this thing.

The taper is a shim. Above it is the zero rate. There are 2 pieces just in case not seen.

I kept it for a few reasons. I didn't wan't to change the response of the system I already got used to, even if minimal. I didn't want to lose even the tiny bit of lift from it. If removed, I didn't have the shorter length center bolt. I could have cut it, but didn't want to go through the effort and time. The perches don't care and I make sure the axle position is unchanged. Not very strong reasons at all. Getting down to the wire to complete, they don't play a role of concern.

They are purposely made long to help reduce axle wrap. More surface contact with the bottom leaf. Yes, they have the same 3 hold pattern. Work out gravy.

Got the front DS in today and did a light shakedown. I got video, but friend took some stills. I'm very happy with the outcome. This is not full flex at all. Lockers are NOT engaged either.

Tested both the Black Box 2.72 gear and the tcase 4.0 and they were just as I had hoped.

Driver shock is not touching the cutie orange bump stop. Passenger spring is loose enough to turn.

Yesterday, Saturday went up to the Rubicon at Loon Lake for Cantina on the Con Fundraiser to RTF. Good times taking my little ones and a buddy in his Dakota. His first time up there. Ran the gate keeper with ease. Lots of kudos for the pair of Dodges rolling through, plus people trying to come out parted like the red sea for us. It was gravy.

On way home almost to Uncle Toms Cabin...came upon downed motorcyclist. Another car heard him yelling from the embankment. Compound fracture to lower right leg. No one could get cell signal out and I pulled the HAM out to get EMS. He was in good spirits and no foul play. Front tire just slipped out. Flighted out.
