Finally got all the pics scanned and uploaded, too many to link in the thread, so I'll just link to the album.. Most of the pics are titled so you know what's what.

Only 2 pics of gravesites.

Looking at some of the pics it's hard to believe it's the same room...

I think the place had been empty/abandoned for 25 years before my grandparents bought it.

I will second Wombat's motion. NICE!

Would love to fix up the old house. That has character.

^ i love the look of the old house. no offense, but i'd remove the white siding addition and either do without, or build on something (like a new kitchen and bath) in the same style as the old house. you'd have to get matching bricks from an old building somewhere.

damn, that too much weed eating. you need to get a few goats or a cow to keep that grazed down. think of it like this - you can sit on the porch and watch the goats do the weedeating and they don't make any noise.

i love the place. enjoy it.

The old house in the pics is the house we're in now. That was the shape it was in when they first got it.

I am enjoying it! So peaceful out here.

The house had a slap on kitchen addition when they first got it, they tore it down (my grandfather had to pull dead rotted snakes out of the rafters too) and built the addition, which also houses the downstairs bathroom and laundry room. I agree it would look better with brick siding though.

I do plan on getting some cows when a good deal on some calves come along. They've had goats before and they're a pain to keep fenced in.

We are living in the brick house. There is a guest house, which used to be my great grandmothers place, a barn, pump house, and a spring house.

so the picture album of the brick house in dilapidated condition was when your grandparents bought the place many years ago?

and they fixed it back up into livable condition and you're in that version of the house now.

when i saw the pictures i got confused that those were current conditions... my bad.

Correct.

It had been empty/abandoned for 25 years prior to their purchasing of it. This house besides be used as a house was also used as a Post Office. There's a lot of history in these walls.. If only they could talk.

Much work has gone into this place. Interior walls are all plastered over the brick, all rooms except the office have been painted and completely finished.

The office needs paint and to finish up the drywall ceiling.

The main house has all hardwood floors, office floor hasn't been stained yet, upstairs bedroom (kids' room) and hall way were stained and finished.

Our bedroom needs to the stained and finished.

Add-on kitchen has I'm guessing 4x4 (or close it to) square red tile, built on-top of a rock floor structure thingy.... Kitchen was remodeled a few years ago, all new cabinets, sink, dishwasher, new huge Samsung Fridge, etc....

We are repainting the living room, downstairs hallway, and the kids' room in the near future.

Porch has been rebuilt. New barn built.. The list goes on...

This house also was base for my grandfathers internet business he started years and years ago, first Internet Service Provider in the area at that time. Hard to believe this place out in the middle of no where (we can't even get DSL) had T1 Lines running to it... They did cost some big $$$$ though...
