Default Out of the Blue Offer

Anyone else ever had an Out of the Blue Offer to buy your Truck?

I had some Chump-Monkey walk up to me at the gas pumps and just started asking questions about my truck.

I have no problem answering questions about my Truck I love it. All the normal stuff, Engine, Trans, How many miles, well when I told him just over 73k. His eyes lit-up and he asked if I would be interested in selling it.

I told him No Not Really its paid for and I don't want car loan.

He gave me that "Hey Everythings for sale for the right price" and then offered me $3500. I told him no, Well I came up to $3700 but no more.

My answer to that was Really? You would have to triple that offer just to get my attention.

He gave me a chuckle and said you'll never sell for that much.

Hey Chump-Monkey There is no For Sale Sign on my Truck. And You approached me.

Where do these people come from?

Had someone do the same to my fathers Mercedes.

Told him it wasn't for sale and he got very very upset.

I found the whole situation "amusing" to say the least.

Funny. No for sale sign, and they think you are being unreasonable for not selling at the rip off offer they make. REALLY - only $3700 for any truck with only 73,000 on the clock? I wouldn't take that as a serious offer on a truck with double the miles!

"Average" mileage (don't know where they (NADA) get such a number) for a vehicle is trypically 12,000 per year. So for a 1999, that would be an "average" milae useage of 156,000. So he should have been willing to offer at least as much money as he would be willing to pay for a 6 year old truck!

I would take the "offer" as a compliment, even though he was not a serious buyer.

I get the same questions on my Yota quite often, even with 275,000 on the clock, but everyone wants to steal it. Not for sale anyway, I got it from my dad becasue he hated to sell it but really wanted a new Yota, and the dealer almost insulted him with their offer.

I've had a guy come up to me and ask me questions about my truck. When I told him it had 110,000 miles (at the time) he asked me if I would be interested in trading for his 97 Chevy Tahoe. I asked how many miles it had, and he said something like in the 190xxx range. I told him I would need cash with his Tahoe and he acted like that was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard in his life. Didn't bother me any.
