Default scrapping a truck

I have a 91 Ram 150 project truck started and acquired a complete 93 Ram150 to use as a parts truck for $100, engine does not run. No title. my question is has anyone ever chopped a vehicle for scrap? Is it worth it? When i pull the parts i need then the 93 will be scrapped. I know this is a first gen but I'm just looking for a general answer. Thanks

Around here, there are folks that will come and get them..... usual pricing is around 3-400 bucks though..... If you can get it on a trailer without having to chop it up, you will actually make more, as you won't burn thru a tank of gas on the cutting torch. Unloading is easy, they had a crane at the yard I went to. Picked it right off the trailer for me.

Some yards around here will not take a vehicle without a title.
Others will take them if there is no motor and no title. And yet, there are ones that dont care.

Best to call and check your local yards.

The rules up here for hauling a vehicle in for scrap is as follows:
1) All fluids must be drained
2) All glass removed
3) Tires removed
4) Fuel tank removed
5) Stripped interior (they don't pay for carpet or padding)
6) Must have a title if 20 years old or newer

Depending on how far away the scrapper is, it's well worth the time (IMHO) to haul one in for scrap. I made a grip a couple of years ago when I hauled all of my old Volkswagens in for scrap. It took me over six loads on an 18' trailer, and that included the bed being loaded. I also took the time to separate all brass, aluminum, and copper.

i would say it depends on what engine that is in the truck. if it has a v8 i would consider trying to get the truck running. the multi port injection v8 has more power. plus if you don't already had a overdrive transmission the 93 should. if you can get it running you could swap it over to your truck and get better gas mileage.

Around here they won't take the vehicle with out a title, so was just going to cut it up. Being an old vehicle means more weight means more money lol. It has a v6 which the junkyard will take as scrap as well

Sometimes there is a minimum weight needed before taking. 500 lbs is what I've been told out here.

Around here, arkansas, there are not really any rules. No title needed and no striping needed. They do want the gas tank removed but I just drilled a lot of holes through the bottom of the tank and they took it.

Around here the semi-local yard gives $300 for any ride any shape or condition..their saying is "drive-pull-or push it in" and the $$ is yours..they most likely want a title..20yrs or newer...
