Tow mirror warning from a state pooper

Angry Tow mirror warning from a state pooper

so i was coming home yesterday and got pulled over for tint being to dark. I had my mirrors flipped out and he came back to give me my ticket and said he was giving me a warning for having my mirrors flipped out and not having a trailer. Is that even legal never knew there was a law about that

I want to see him pull over a semi truck with no trailer behind it for tow mirrors being out...

there is no law against that.

Thats awesome... They should really come up here to PA and do that... No need for mirrors to be flipped out without a load!

I tow regularly say 3-4 or more days a week so it makes no since for me too fold them in if I'm just going to town or running around doing other daily stuff

§ 658.15 Width.
(a) No State shall impose a width
limitation of more or less than 102
inches, or its approximate metric
equivalent, 2.6 meters (102.36 inches) on
a vehicle operating on the National
Network, except for the State of Hawaii,
which is allowed to keep the
State’s 108-inch width maximum by
virtue of section 416(a) of the STAA.


§ 658.16 Exclusions from length and
width determinations.
(a) Vehicle components not excluded
by law or regulation shall be included
in the measurement of the length and
width of commercial motor vehicles.
(b) The following shall be excluded
from either the measured length or
width of commercial motor vehicles, as
applicable:
(1) Rear view mirrors, turn signal
lamps, handholds for cab entry/egress,
splash and spray suppressant devices,
load induced tire bulge;

so thats federal law and it supersedes local laws. meaning its not a negligible law that can change from state to state..ALL states MUST abide by it. if your within those measurements tell that cop to f off lol
