I'm with the rest of the guys, I like the 96. I'm also a fan of de-badging. This white truck looks like a good candidate, (great job on the grille guard). Someone prior to you took very good care of the truck. If I ever get around to doing a good paint job on the 98, I'll de-badge it first.
Great Find! K.
Edit: Not sure how to spell debadge.
Edit 2: For Thornloe & V10 below..........nice snag for your Dad. He should keep his 98 for a back up vehicle.

My dad just bought a new used truck to tow his camper. 2001 ram 2500 QCSB 4x4 v10 5 speed. Fully loaded with leather, power everything, heated seats, power SUNROOF!?!?!?, cowl hood, piller pod guages, headers, stainless steel exhaust system. Body is pretty good with a few blemishes. 4.10 gears with 180,000km. I'm so jealous.
The truck was for sale about 5 years ago and the owner sold it from under him. He drove 8 hours to find out the guy got a higher offer and sold it even though they already agreed on a meet. I think he was asking $9000. Then 2 years ago it was for sale again because the person who bought it couldn't afford the gas mileage and my dad missed out AGAIN. This time he got a cop friend to TRACE the plates of the truck to find the current owner. Turned out the current owner was considering selling it as he didn't drive it much. He put 5000km on it in 2 years. My dad paid $3000. My dad has been obsessed with this truck for 5 years and now he finally has it. Good because I was getting sick of hearing about "the one that got away."
The truck isn't perfect. It does need some work like a few small things and the body. But I can't get over how rare this truck is. This is probably the only truck in Canada like it. A v10 is pretty rare by itself but with a 5 speed? And leather? And a sunroof and a cowl hood? For $3000? Good luck finding one. Was there even a sunroof offered from the factory in a 2nd gen? I had this debate with him because I dont think there was.
He's now thinking about selling his 98 ram 1500 and putting all the money into this truck. That would be the smart thing to do in my opinion. The only things he uses his 98 for nowadays is towing his camper, snowploughing and work related stuff. He needed the v10 because his new camper weighs 10,000lbs and I bet the v10 will plough amazingly. Doesn't leave much love for the v8.
