Actually, no republican would have won. And I am fiercely opposed to the radical leftist Obama, but don't blame or hate him. He didn't elect himself. The American people who can't see life without government handouts did. Democracy worked yesterday, it wasn't rigged or unfair. I find it amazing how many people want to live off someone else' money and that's what they voted for yesterday. "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."

yep, and people getting loans falsifying their incomes to get a bigger loan, then it catches up to them and they default. It wasn't just the banks, it was the people getting the loans too.
People need to take responsibility for the **** they do. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if you can afford something or not.

By golly, no, I do not have any sympathy at all for oil companies who have proven repeatedly that they will bleed us all dry just because they can profit handsomely by doing so.

the point is- and there is a point- is that we ARE screwed.. well, all of us but the identified small percentage that is privy and is cooperative with the movement- the movement that gains them wealth and exclusion from living like the majority will have to accept.. I said it somewhat before, and I will again- both directions, left or right, meet at the same conclusion.. there is too much corruption and greed for there to be a better conclusion..
I've been to several shizen holes in my life.. and I've fought and killed folks my country said were bad- and for that reason.. but my eyes were open.. my eyes report this: the absolute DREW definition of a third world country is the absolute lack of a middle class.. there are haves and have nots.. that is all... the divide is happening here, now, and at an accelerated rate that even the layman can identify..
how we get there is insignificant.. we ARE going.. there is no stopping this train.. Live conservatively, whether your liberal or conservative.. that is the only way you'll weather the impending storm.

I managed a string of gas stations then, and was getting gasoline 8,000 gallons at a time for a dime a gallon from some of those drivers who were pissed off about dumping it in the desert. I couldn't get it for all of my stations, though, because they had strict conditions: There had to be no significant traffic to be expected on the street between 1AM and 3AM, no backing required to get in or out, and less than ten miles from off-ramp to on-ramp with no back-tracking. Oh, and we couldn't lower our prices because that would tip off the state that we were getting black market fuel which they were very seriously looking for. We also had to accept being completely out of fuel for two to three days at a stretch for the same reason. But with 89.9 cents per gallon markup the guy who owned the company didn't mind being out.

FWIW, I'm in agreement with Jigapop's posts, especially with respect to the housing/bank/overstepping borrowers/etc.
I know people that literally walked away from their homes, which then got foreclosed on, which they then bought the next house for less $$$+more sqft. That is the sickening irresponsibility coupled with POOR tracibility that has and remains to occur. Bidding on home sales has returned THIS YEAR already!!! You'da thunk such games would have been nuked.
It's going to happen again....just a slightly different flavor...

I've had zero consumer debt for just over 27 years now, ever since I paid off my last car loan. My credit report consists only of past known addresses.

to be fair Obama took office when the ship was already sinking with holes too big to plug...there is nothing he or any other politician could have done to stop the economy of plunging. I don't think he took the correct course of action in throwing all of that money down the pit with the economy like bush was doing, but as I said before, he knows nothing about how to fix the economy. Romney knows nothing about it either. Its too big and wide spread of a problem that is effecting the globe. Its not just us being effected. The economy grew too big too fast and the bubble has to break some time.
One of the root causes of this bad economy is the idiots buying houses they can't afford and trying to "flip" them, then reality sets in and they can't pay their bills anymore because they bought too much **** they couldn't afford and default on everything. Things would not have gotten this bad if most of the dead beats out there would live beneath their means, pay their debts, and stop buying things attempting this get rich quick scheme. ponzi schemes have something to do with it too, as well as our war for oil we don't need, etc.
We didn't need to go to iraq for oil. embargo that f'in country and use our own reserves. we have more oil in the US and canada than the entire world combined has. there NEVER has been and NEVER will be an oil shortage.
You want to know what caused the oil shortage in the 70's? Oil companies and the politicians who made money from it lied to the public making up BS stories that there was an oil shortage when in reality they caused the gas shortage by literally sending 90% of their tanker trucks out to ghost towns to top off the old abandoned gas stations tanks, and when they ran out of those, they sent truck after truck out to the desert and kicked the valves open on the tanks and let the fuel dump out into the desert so they could have a legitimate looking shortage to justify jacking the price of fuel up so they could make more money.
My old man was one of the tanker drivers instructed to do this and they had entire convoys driving loaded tanks of fuel out to the desert to dump the fuel out in the sand.
you ever notice how when gas prices go up, the oil companies make more profit then they have ever made before? and these ***** in office get paid off to help keep it that way. not a damn one of them go to bat for the common american.
we are all f'ed no matter who wins elections.
