There's nothing wrong with trying to build a fuel efficient truck. Problem these trucks weren't designed for good fuel mileage. They were made was gas was cheap and no one cared about fuel economy.

Expecting reasonable mileage out of these trucks is crazy, some claim really good numbers, I can see up to 16mpg on the interstate, but if you want a truck that's half good on gas, go for a newer one that's built under some of the mpg laws....

Well put. Look at the window sticker when new. Nothing earth shattering as far as mileage, basically it sucks. You should start on a better platform to try out different ideas on increasing mileage. Not a 5000-6000 lb truck.

I have posted it somewhere here before, I'd have to get another from Dodge, don't have it in my email anymore
I copied mine to a text document so I didn't have to worry about that. I've got my dad's copied too.

As far as the mileage thing, I wanna mod for power, and any power this thing gets will likely increase the mileage if I keep my foot out of it.

Some people do report increased mileage after an SCT Tune, IF they can keep their foot out of the new found power...

There in lies the problem.

Lead-foot disorder.
Any more power is going to help increase mileage as the engine strains less to move these aerodynamic bricks.

sorry for the waiting on my mileage report, i guess still have to wait, because i disconnect the battery and didn;t notice the trip meter was reset and drive with it, don't remember the last number on the meeter, in order to give a more correct report i refill it with 87 again. the engine is free up after 100 miles of driving , i feel it in the gas pedal.

This is why you write this stuff down in a notebook.

In other news, I hate the ST gauge clusters....ugh.

You want better power that translates into mpg's? E-fan & double roller timing chain. Roller rockers could help too, but that's getting expensive, and 1.7"s encourage more fuel to be used, and lets be honest, whos gonna buy 1.6"s with a stock cam? My e-fan setup cost ~$100, and double roller about $45. Both reduce friction and drag on the engine. Both help the engine to produce more power (esp at low rps where it counts) while still in stock form. My motor revs quicker and I am happy with the power with these being the only mods to it.
