Just had a thought... I have a Nook, and these are Android behind the scenes... you can get a bootable microSD card ($30, or $20 for the image if you have your own card) that will turn it into a 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) Android tablet.
I should then be able to run Torque on my Nook, and Bluetooth via an ELM327.
$40 and I could be up and running.

I loaded Torque on my Droid, and did not seem to do much for me. Still like the MTG 2500.

This will work as long as the nook has Bluetooth.

Nooks have Bluetooth hardware built-in, but they're not activated by default (not a B&N feature)...
The crack gives you access to the hardware, so you can turn it 'on'...
Reportedly they don't have great range, but that's not needed for this application.

Beyond just the codes, they read most all the setup parameters, correct?
Do they also to write them?

Here is a video of the torque track recorder which is also great for logging data.

I've just started messing with my Torque App. I purchased the paid version and have the addon plugin. I don't have a full review for feedback on this, but for sure...I like it given it's capability for not only scan tool functions but also the data reading and the following screw around to see if it works.

I didn't try anything crazy on this as it was to see how it functions to start/time the timing.

MTG 2500 had graphing capability, but only for reading data. It can contol the PCM for diagnostics, such as increasing throttle, open and close any emission related device connected to PCM, step IAC, activate/deactivate relays, and other functions, but only while connected. No write to PCM capability.
