Default Redneck Ram! I need some help!

Anyone else feel free to chime in also! I really need to get this truck back on the road!

I recently posted a thread about transmission compatability...

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...atability.html

This past weekend, I changed out the transmissions (98 tranny into 01 ram1500 4x4). I bought and installed the new govenor and wiring harness yredneck ram suggested. When I took it for a test drive, I noticed the transmission didn't kick right into gear when I shifted. When I stopped at stop signs, I would give it gas and it would take a second or two for the tranny to grab. While driving, it would shift through the gears but somewhat sparatically. We checked the fluid level several times and it was right on. Do you think my bands may have too much play in them and need tightening? Or is there a bigger problem lurking? As always, thanks for the help.

couple things.... first of all... please come up with a better thread title. maybe something like transmission shifting problems, or the like.

now. what parts did you change out?

the tcc/od solenoid needs to be changed, as well as the gov. sensor, as they are different between the two model years. the gov. solenoid is the same 96-02 46-48re's.

now, you also need to take this part off your 01 trans, and put it in the 98 trans.

i bet your shifting issues is because you didnt change that part over, and the sensor popped out of the block.

other than that, it should be fine, unless you didnt swap all the correct parts over.

good luck!

again, next time, come up with a better thread title. you could have always pm'd me, and asked. ill text zman, and have him change the title to something more suiting.

I also swapped over the govenor solenoid and transducer holding bracket from my 01 tranny to the 98 tranny.

Did I miss something?

nope, those are all correct, including the bracket.

id drop the pan again, and check electical connections inside the pan. before you drop the pan though, check the 8 pin round connector for the tcc/od solenoid. they are a pain to connect, just ask me how i know. make sure its connected all the way.
