As kejobe already said, don't line up anything. Take the old off, put the new on, and put it back together.
You can only put the gears on one way, provided you don't move the cam or crank after you remove the original chain you should have no problems.
You might "pre-assemble" the new timing set to be sure the dots will line up, I think it was WhiteNuckle that had a new timing set that was off....

Yup!
I had my b-i-l help when I did the plenum/timing/other crap work.
It really was just slide the old one off, it will slide off in 1 piece, and put the new on.
Check the dots and put it back together.
