Quick summary: That poor bastard has a 2012 F150 ecoboost he bought brand new, it has something like ~30k miles on it now, and the first engine threw a rod out the side of the block at like 20k miles...

after a bit of a run around from the dealer and a week later, they decide to warranty replace the motor...2,000km later (he is in canada) motor number 2 throws another rod out the side of the block!!

again more run around and BS from Ford, eventually gets another new motor...and now motor #3 blew up too!!!! WTF?! he is still in a battle with ford and being much calmer than anyone I know would be about this, and trying to work with Ford cause he just wants out of the truck at this point... he even offered hey give me fair market trade value for it and I will buy a new truck...dealer won't even do that for him...they offered him like 10k+ less than the truck would be worth had they not known that it has been through 2-3 engines now...what a bunch of f-tards over there at ford motor company...

I don't like Fords at all to begin with, but I feel for this guy...That's some f-ed up chit ford is putting him through over a Ford manufacturing defect and **** poor mechanics that shouldn't be allowed to touch a vehicle.

shame on ford for not making it right in the first place, and shame on the dealer/mechanic(s) for parts slapping the truck without diagnosing why the engine failed in the first place and fixing the issue rather than slapping a new short/long block in and sending the customer on his way...

 

that would definitely suck. i think i would have hired a lawyer by now and went for getting the full amount of money paid for it plus some for all the bs gone through. having 1 engine blowing a rod is a fluke but blow 3 is just ridiculous. i would want all my money so i could buy a real truck.

 

Would Dodge be any different if a truck came in with similar issues? Doubtful. They're going to fix it as cheaply as possible.

There's plenty of horror stories about dealership and warranty work in the 3rd/4th Gen Section.

 

dodge won't even warranty/recall a dash or plenum. good luck on an engine.

The hemis have 20 lbs bearings and pretty crazy tolerances

Situations like that depend on local dealer some would've given him a better deal and some would've done worse

 

Buddies '12 Hemi left him on the side of the road 3 times with electrical issues, lemons happen.

Hell yeah!...
I didn't have to start replacing stuff until ~97k with front brakes... I was well into the 100k mark before other items needed replacing, and now at 161k I'm getting to more major repairs.
But this is 1½ vehicle life times, so it is to be expected... my Dodge has been cheap motoring.
As was the wife's 2000 Neon with 164k on it, before moving to a new Dart.

 

Im glad, until it starts spitting fluid and breaking parts. I had the option at my dealership between this 1998 Dodge and this 1995 Ford Diesel.Decided to chose the dodge. My friend had one of these newer Fords a 2009 or 2008 something like that. It was an F150 and he had so many problems just at 50,000miles:cylinders misfire, Spark Plug failures, Tie rods, Head Gasket and the list keeps going on. According to the tech at Fords they found problem after problem after problem and wanted him to pay full out of pocket cost for all repairs. My friend actually just traded that lemon in not to long ago for a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. The dealer down here always hooks us up so thats a plus... Hoping to have my Ram for a while though...

 

wow, that's a horror story, but all brands have at least one dealership who tries to rip you off. the dodge dealer I go to tried to tell me I needed new ball joints and tie rods on my ram and they wanted $900 for it. I brought it to an independent shop and they did a full inspection of the truck, all they found was that I needed new tie rods and they also found all the money I've made in the last 5 months in my gas tank lol

 

I would like to know why he keeps tossing rods...... is that a common problem with that motor? Or is it his driving habits?
