I never got a good idle out of it so can't say. New cam is in and it should be running tomorrow if my break in oil comes. I'll make a video of it sometime if it runs decent.

I've been trying to track down a noise that started since the cam swap. I tried isolating the noise with a screwdriver as a stethoscope, but that didn't help. I had the exhaust off during the cam swap, but I don't think it's an exhaust leak. The noise speeds up as rpm increases. Oil level is good.

Did you use gaskets when you put the exhaust back together?

No. I didn't take the headers off. Just the y pipe back. So the two ball flanges at the header and the v band clamp by the transmission.

Headers? Hhhhmmmm.... notorious for leaks. I wonder, if you run it in the DARK, you might be able to SEE an exhaust leak. Worth a shot?

I can give it a try. I've got remflex gaskets though, so I'm thinking they're good.

Didn't have time to investigate, but I think the noise is coming from the transmission inspection plate cover area. I think maybe when I put the exhaust on I may have bent it and it's now contacting the converter bolts. Or else maybe the torque converter bolts backed out on my new patc converter.

The noise was indeed coming from the cover. You can see where it was rubbing the flexplate. Still some noise from the rockers but I'm not too worried about that. I understand roller rockers and a cam can do that. Right?

Hey this is really great to see that old truck of mine getting a new life. It was a great truck and I wish I didn't have to sell it but I really like what your doing to it! Havent been on in a while so I thought I'd check in. You've really made some good progress. I'll be keeping up with it and hope to see it around town sometime soon.
