Fixed rear high mount break lights and bed illumination lamps. (needed 4 bulbs) while doing so i RTV'd the F*ck out of the high mount lamp housing.. it shouldnt leak ever again....

Just concerned now about actually getting the lamp off again if my bulbs burn out again. HAHA.

tried to fix backup lamps. new bulbs. the bulbs in the sockets were 3157's with the square base. .the parts store said my truck to 1156's with the round base for the backup lamps... i compromised, and bought a pack of 3156's.. single bulbs with square bases. that seemed to do the trick as far as right bulb, however, issues persist. they refuse to light up. all wiring was right at the tail lamps, no issues with sockets, even used di-electric grease on all my bulbs to re-install them in the housings.. still no bueno. I am guessing that maybe the bulb is unplugged at the transmission. When i finally crawl under her, i'll check that.

I dont think the rear backup lamps have their own fuse, but its possible i guess. I'll have to check that next time im out there. The fuse didnt occur to me until i was writing this.

damn glad i looked at the truck before locking up this evening.. the interior dome lights were on. had been on since bout 2 pm today i reckon... now i went out there in the rain, to see. they were on cause i left them on when i was testing the bed lamps. So i started the truck, and it fired right up!!! hell ye!!! now that is what i call good.. so i turned the lamps off and everything else off, and went in. very ahppy i didnt kill that battery.

Oh yeah, you can run the accessories all day without draining the batt. I do it all the time when I work on it. Glad you got some lighting fixed. I just replaced the harnesses and bulbs in the bumper cause they rotted away. Might check wiring to the backup lights as well.

I just replaced my dash with a new LMC part and it went pretty well. I can walk you through the process which is even easier on your truck (no pass airbag).

I guess I'll keep looking for a console lid. There are some seat coverings that include a console cover but I like the stock look.

yes so i noticed. that is a good thing. i was worried. lol.

about the lighting i am too. I just wish i knew what the deal was with the reverse lamps. At this poitn i think it may be unplugged from tranny under the truck, but i dont know for sure. i know there is a switch that should kick on to make it work but idk.

I'll keep an eye out for ya still on the lids..

and the dash, yea i need to do it but before i spend big money into the truck, i need to finish paying it off. so for now, im gonna just keep looking in junk yards for deals.

Tried tracking down the reverse light issue :

crawled under the truck and checked the tranny connections. All seemed plugged in well and good. Wonder if its a switch issue in the column now...

Also checked the exhaust. Its a single exhaust dumps on passenger side.. has a flowmaster in line. which explains why its so loud. As for the leak noise im hearing, im not sure.. maybe its a gasket issue at the headers... i'll have to examine it in mor depth later. at this point it looked fine to me pipe and connection wise at the muffler from the middle of the transmission all the way down.

Thinking i wouldnt mind a quieter exhaust.. who knows. we'll see what the future brings on that one later.

fogot to mention i also tracked the milage. first full tank was 12.5 mpg and a total of 251 miles on 20.00 gallons of gas. ;/ was hoping for more.. not sure what to do to improve it though. that first tank was unleaded plus... this second tank is regular. we'll see if any difference there.

thoughts?

What kind of miles are those? If mostly all interstate than you could see better, best I've hit was 16.5mpg. (with tires/rims you see in sig pic)

If that was mostly non interstate it's pretty good.

All depends how fast you were going and how hard you drove it. The mileage I see fluctuates with the moon cycles. A small wind, bad gasoline, hot weather, using ac, hauling any passengers, etc. all affect my mileage. All I can say is a fresh tuneup, fresh fluids all around, air up tires to 45 and pray you keep it under 65 on the hwy. Don't use higher octane unless you have a trailer or big load. Run some injector cleaner next tank as well.
