I put on my valve covers and throttle body yesterday. I was wondering what's wrong with running a *195 t stat instead of a 185 w/ the SCT? It wouldn't overheat that bad would it? If not I'm gunna run a *195 for the purpose of winters in ND, my truck doesn't get cold enough for heat. I shouldn't be too worried in the summer with the 195 right?

Sean plays with the timing tables, and with the hotter stat, the engine will be more prone to spark knock. If you are just running one of his 87 tunes..... I am not sure that the cooler stat would be required. I would ask him......

I'll have to do that, thanks HeyYou. Quick questions, can I reuse the harmonic balancer from my 318 to 360? (or are they diff). I forgot my other question, I had it earlier today but I'll try and remember it.

K I have the 360's flexplate and I'll use the 360's balancer (obviously). I remember my question: do I have to do the fuel sync on my engine right away or can I drive it around enough to break it in before doing the fuel sync?

Alright, will the engine run semi-ok without the fuel sync? My teacher will prob freak out if my engine isn't running good when we put it in and I want to know info on the fuel syncing.

Your scanner at school should be able to read fuel sync. Really simple matter to set it. Just like doing timing, start the engine, let it warm up, leave it at idle, see what fuel sync is, and turn the distributor till you get it to zero. Won't have to turn it far, as it needs to be pretty close just to run.

My teacher said our scanner doesn't do fuel sync although I haven't had the chance to look at it but I don't know why it wouldn't have that setting. I'm hoping it has that mode so I can do the sync myself. But thanks for the info much appreciated
