What are you going to be upgrading? Just putting on all new rings, bearings, gaskets and whatnot?

Yeah pretty much, just going with a diff cam, LT's if I have enough money left over, and new thicker casted heads(stock) before the engine goes in which won't be for awhile still.

Looks kind of of like someone didn't like oil changes. Where did you end up getting the engine?

I got the engine out of Johnson's Wrecking west of Mandan.

Well I got all of the cam bearings, freeze plugs, and soft plugs out of the block as of Friday...she already went into the cooker once, we have a few more wash cycles still.

Man I wish we'd had a auto shop like that when I was a kid. I was a big motor head back in high school. I had a 1950 Dodge sedan I was working on back then with a 6 cyl engine & a radio that took half the dash. Had a 18" steering wheel for that POWER STEERING. Had a transmission that was an auto/manual tranny. Loved that car. Next rig was a 1954 Dodge pickup. The good old days.

Today I took more measurements of the block...all 8 cylinders but 1 were within spec of taper and out of round... the cam bores and bosses are all within spec tho, this engine is looking pretty good still!

Found out yesterday that my block is going to be bored .030" over. My crank is within spec and so they'll just polish it.
