Might buy truck with 5.9
It's not lifted but if I did buy it, I could put a 5 inch lift on it.. Something about lifts ya know.. :P When I say "offroad" I don't mean rock crawling or anything of the sort, I mean driving down old logging trails to go fishing that kind of thing. A truck like this I wouldn't purposely abuse it. The guy is a little far away but I've seen about 10 pics and its mint. Comes with tonneau cover and colour matching cap. 230,000km 5.9 4x4 got him down to $4500. Everything works including a/c and it comes certified. He wants to buy a Durango now that he has kids.
It's between this one and a black 2000 ram 1500 quad cab short box fully loaded with heated leather in decent shape.

I might as well post a pic of the other truck I've been looking at. 2000 ram 1500 4x4 recently serviced. Rebuilt transmission, new power steering pump, brakes, hub assemblies, tie rod ends, u joints, etc. Fully loaded with heated beige leather. It's a little closer to home. A/C don't work (he put an ac bypass pulley on it?) and the drivers heated seat doesn't work. 230,000km $3500 needs some slight body touch ups but overall in good shape.
Not to get off topic, but after seeing all the trucks you post I'm starting to think I got ripped selling mine. 99 2500 RCLB 5.9, 110k miles, nearly mint body, 5 speed, sold for $2700. Still hate that I had to sell it
Yup I would say you did. However, I find prices in Canada are a little higher than a states
I still like the 3/4 ton better.
If you aren't really "off roading" hard core, just basically two-trackin' and such, the long bed won't be as much of an issue, and you will like the extra room in the bed. (but may learn to hate parking lots.)
I like the additional capability of the 3/4 ton, along with the beefier driveline parts.

I kinda skimmed through this since I gotta go somewhere, but that brown 2500 looks damn nice! $4500 is an awesome price if all is mechanically good. I would jump on it. I got mine for the same price.
He's not too sure. He's going to let me know. I really like the truck but I just don't know if I like the length.

Sadly the brown 2500 sold. I've been talking to the owner of the black 1500 for about a week and a half now and I really like it. I know it's a 1500 but I thought about it and I don't think I will go back to 35+ inch tires. A 3 inch lift and 33s come to mind. I talked to the wife and we decided a more road efficient vehicle is what would be better at this point in our life. If I want a bigger play toy later on, maybe ill buy an offroad jeep.
So the truck.. It a 5.9 with 220,000km. It's fully loaded and has heated leather but the drivers heated seat doesn't work. I think it's a wiring issue though. Power everything. The interior is mint and is wood grain. The body is decent but has some issues. The worst spots are the rear fender wells and there's a spot on the one rocker. I'm friends with a well known body shop technician so I'm going to stop in there later on get his opinion. The tires are 33" Mickey Thompson ATZ's on 17" rims. He said he paid over $2000 in the fall for the combo.

Ive seen recent pics as well. Needs only a tie rod end for certification according to him. I asked him if there was any play in the steering and he responded "l have tried to fix that ive put a new power steering box in and realigned the front end but wont go away but every dodge dealer mechanic says its just the " dodge sway" but its better than it used to be." I know our trucks arnt known for our great steering just wanted to see what you guys thought of that. It's 4 hours away and he will let me dive it home on his plates. Also comes with fiberglass black tonneau cover. $4000

The stock steering box wasn't the best. They wear over time, and the ones you get from the parts stores are just rebuilt stock boxes. Unfortunately, all they do is clean 'em up, adjust 'em a bit, and maybe replace bearings/seals. Everything else is still the same old worn parts. So, you put in a 'new' box, and your steering is still just as sloppy.
Answer to that is getting either a NEW box (borgeson), or, a high quality rebuilt unit, (redhead) Either one will improve your steering. (assuming everything else is up to snuff.)
