Default Check Your Spare...

The other day while I was changing my shocks I needed to get the spare tire out of the way. I have had my truck 13 years - so I don't remember if I put this on here or if it was factory. Either way - if I had not been at home with access to more tools I would have had a hard time getting my spare tire out....

My spare had a cable wrapped around it connected by the lock. So check yours to see if you may have the same issue BEFORE you need the spare. Good time to check air pressure as well - mine was down to 10psi...

I really should check my spare... it's never been dropped since new... I've never check the pressure (don't know if the shop ever does)... It's probably rusted in by now.

I carry a plug kit, and have only had to use that twice in 16yrs... never needed the spare.

What are folks doing that have dual exhausts that get in the way of the spare?
Throw in in the bed?... leave it at home?

I've got duals. Tire is still there.
Just can't put a full-size 33"er up there.

TIP:
OCCASIONALLY DROP THE SPARE AND LUBE THE CABLE AND WORKING MECHANISMS OF THE WINCH SO IT DOES NOT SEIZE.
I used to work at a Auto Wrecker. Sold many winches to people that haven't ever used theirs. First time they needed it it was rusted solid.

Towing on my insurance is a couple bucks a month, rather see my truck get towed home than face getting run over by someone trying to change a tire with the most basic of tolls to hold up a quarter of my 6,000lb truck. Though I may be biased after my girlfriend in high schools mom almost killed me changing her tire because she wanted to show her a cd lol

As long as you're not near the coast.
