Got a Q here...
For the first time in YEARS, and by YEARS I mean 9 years, I've got business grade DSL again (after satellite and 3g/4g nightmares). Right now I'm leasing a DSL modem from them, but want to get my own equipment (which they are just fine with). I've been searching for a good ADSL 2+/VDSL modem that DOES NOT have wifi built in and doesn't cost $1500. Any suggestions?

Waste of money.
I've never actually seen what I'd call a high quality, reliable ADSL modem. I haven't seen any real difference in lifespan between the new but recently discontinued models and the much more expensive new current models. I usually get 12 to 14 months out of them before I start seeing excessive packet loss or random sync failures, and I'm surprised if one goes 18 months. So I just run the cheap recently discontinued models and save money and warranty hassles, and hit fleabay every couple or three years to restock.

The cable modem I bought for the GF's place was $70
Motorola surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 capable of 300Mbps download and 100Mbps upload.
her interweb plan is for 25Mbps download and 5Mbps upload, so I don't think she's going to outgrow that modem for a while... we got it about a year ago. it has already paid for itself as of a few months ago. (don't have to pay the $7/month equipment rental fee when you have your own modem)
who the hell would spend $1500 on a modem? let alone $500 on one?!
