I've seen on other forum that people have their tb's bored out by a machine shop instead of buying a fastman. Is it worth doing that option or should a guy just buy at fastman instead?

See how much a local shop will charge you to do it. Probably can get it done for around 60 bucks or so.... a LOT cheaper than a fastman. You can do the top yourself with a dremel.

You can also get one off Ebay, and they'll pay you a core charge if you ship them the old one.

I already have an extra tb with the top chopped off and smoothed off for the most part. Wouldn't boring out make a gap between the wall and flapper disc tho?

You would need larger butterflies to fit the enlarged bores.

Thats what I thought. So is there a specific place I should look for bigger butterfly discs or just search around?

If you only punch it out to 50mm, you won't need new butterflies. If you look, you will notice that the bore is 'stepped', just above the throttle plates. That bottom diameter is..... 50mm. Above I think is 48ish.

^What he said. I just used a dremel on mine to make it 50mm on top.
