Hummm,... when I had my '72 Yamaha 643 GP snowmobile I put a 50mm carbs on it.

Made quite a difference.

Rough morning for the Ram.

Warmed truck up before I left and no issues, get about 8 miles up the interstate and I smell antifreeze and lots of smoke from the rear, then I notice the temp gauge is way too high and then I lose heat.

Limp it to a gas station and lots of water on the passenger side of engine bay, hoses still attached, water in the coolant reservoir was boiling.

Decide to head back to the house, truck pinged like crazy up a small hill.

Get back on the interstate headed south and temp starts to drop.

Heard some odd noises and after the first noise the temp dropped considerably.

Got home and truck was still on the warm side and no heat.

I'll admit I was slacking on antifreeze so it probably had more water in it.

Wonder if a line or something froze.

To update this for all the non-Facebookers out there, I'm thinkin something was froze or clogged by ice somewhere.

2 jugs of pure antifreeze and a jug of water and some bubbles from the system and I have heat and normal operating temps.

Lucky lucky.

Now let's just hope you didn't crack a head or blow a head gasket. I am going to guess you did something to the engine getting it as how as you did.

I can only hope not.

Luckily it was extremely cold this morning when all this went down, hopefully it helped keep things cool enough to avoid major damage.

Lucky for stew half the time the heads are cracked they will still run just fine.

Hell, I'd bet money mine have some kind of crack with all the miles on it.

Just can't justify putting a cracked head back on the engine.
