the guy is holding it for me, but said if someone came with cash he has to let it go. but as of right now, its mine. ive got the carfax for it, build sheet for it, and have done some detective work on the truck.

its been in 2 minor fender benders by the original owner.

it started life in CO, then TX, LA, and now CT. so its mainly rust free...

its got 4.10's and limited slip, snowplow prep group, and a whole bunch of other awesome goodies!

ive already bought my plow mounts, they showed up today.

gonna try to knock him down to 7k, we shall see. bringing a jack, and stands with me to check the front end.

also, gonna rent a car to drive down!

I know we aren't supposed to tow in O/D with our trucks because it can eff our trans up, but ever since I've had my truck since back in 2004, I've been towing my boat that weighs a good 5000lbs with the trailer in 95 degree weather, and very rarely an enclosed 4 place snowmobile trailer with 4 snowmobiles, all while towing in O/D. I've never once had a problem with the trans overheating or shifting bad (other than I still need to adjust my t/v cable). I only let it hit O/D on flat roads. All I do to the trans is have the dealership flush and inspect and adjust the bands every so many miles. It's got the check valve delete and factory cooler. I don't abuse it with burnouts, just towing. Trans is completely factory still. I think I have the rarest factory trans in the history of 2nd gen rams that won't give up the ghost. It's got 155K on motor and trans. And I'm sure I just jinxed myself...

It'll blow up tomorrow.

That IS pretty rare. I have 193K on mine at the moment.... I am reasonably sure it's original to the truck... but, not 100% on that.

lol I know the day is coming when it's going to grenade, but it seems that regular maintenance and not abusing it badly will keep this trans going and going longer than average, or maybe I'm just extremely lucky?

Both of you will need transmissions tomorrow!

According to the previous owner of my truck, my truck is on the 2nd transmission, and the original lasted to 189,000. Don't know if that's true or not... Current trans has 144,000 on it (used transmission, and again, according to the previous owner)

Looking at buying a 2001 24V http://www.bismanonline.com/bismarck...e_cummins_b_2e
Or sticking with my truck and lifting it? I'm waiting to hear back from the guy. I'm going no higher than $6000 for that truck with over 280000...I hear a rebuild not to long after. Any opinions?

280,000 miles for a well maintained Cummins is nothing.

That's cheap really, most people want crazy amounts, apparently they think a Cummins is worth it's weight in gold....
