Owned mine since around Jan '09 if I recall correctly.

Maybe no one posts since we all finally modded them to how we want them and they aren't breaking down. Just kidding.

Don't know really. I'm still here cause I've always thought the 2nd gens were the coolest looking trucks. Now that it's fairly dodgeforum.com'd with the plenum plate, H&S, hiflo cat etc etc. it works acceptably well doing what I'm using it for.

I may never understand why they never did a fuel injected 440 magnum option for this truck. That would have been the ultimate truck for me had Dodge produced it.

Instead of the 440, they had the V-10..... Just as powerful, just as thirsty.

And the V-10 is super cool. Though I get the feeling the star power, after market support, collectability (my word apparently) etc. of the 2nd gen models would have been greatly enhanced by the hypothetical 440 option. Though the cummins turbo diesel seems to do that all on it's own. Not that I don't appreciate wht the V10 and diesel can do, there is just this romance to what I'm imagining would have been a computer controlled fuel injected gasoline big block with massive aftermarket support from companies like SCT, edelbrock, etc. Just sayin man, coulda been something beautiful.

Yeah, ya got a point there. There is barely anything for the truck V-10. They still are out there, but, I suspect it was never quite as popular as the 5.9, or diesel....

Whereas the 440... you can get pretty much anything you want for it. Even back in the day, detuned for 'fuel economy' (which seems kinda silly for a big block) it had GOBS of torque. I have seen a few folks talk about dropping one into a second gen, but, I think I have only found one completed project...... I think there are more Hemi's in second gens than big blocks. Bummer.

Fuel injected 460's have so much aftermarket stuff for them....sometimes makes me a bit jealous. But talk about $$$. My 5.9l is working great.

You can get a fuel injected 6 pack set up for a 440! Hows that for eye appeal? Putting the viper V10 in the second gen trucks would have been awesome! They built the VTS concept truck but it never went into production. They had to wait till 2004 to build the SRT-10.

Does the viper v-10 have the same engine mount locations/bellhousing pattern as the truck motor?

Don't know. They are completely different motors. The Vipers came with a 6 speed manuals and i believe there wasn't a automatic available until the SRT10's came out in 04. I doubt a 46/7/8RE would bolt up to it.

Would certainly make for an interesting swap, if they would bolt in....... Ooodles of aftermarket support.... for a high-winding, high-horsepower engine though.... Not exactly what you want in a truck.....
