In '97 or '98 there was a white body 2500 SWB 4x4 done for Bob Lutz.
It had the ali Viper engine and a 6spd manual trans.

 

Is there an article for that build laying about anywhere?

If you have the money, you can put any engine in any vehicle..... I don't want to have to mortgage my house again for the swap.

 

No write up on this one... totally under the radar... it was a personal truck for the boss-man, that went through the dynamics lab when I worked at JTE (Jeep/Truck Engineering)... all them pony's made it fun to hang onto.
Money isn't even a question when you run the show (well he was 2IC at that time) and it isn't actually your money.

We also did some nice Jeeps for the Detroit Police Dept every now and then.
One was an unmarked Viper powered ZJ... the grill was stepped forward to the front of the bumper to make room for the extra cylinders, and the firewall had a step back with a larger transmission tunnel.
For something more sedate, there was a marked XJ with a Paxton supercharger on a 5.9... but that was a lifetime ago (well, almost two lifetimes for my RAM that is inching towards 200k).

 

I bought my 2004 quad cab slt, 4.7 with factory tow package and 3.92 gears, new in 2004. I am currently getting ready to put it up for sale, as I bought a 2007. My '04 has 275,000 miles. It has been a wonderful vehicle, except for issues with exhaust manifold bolts, and heater cores. The '07 i bought , has just over 50,000 miles, so I am hoping for years of good service.

 

Ops, just realized you are not talking about Dakotas.

 

Bought my 1995, 4x4, Cummins extended cab Oct. of 1994. Came off the first run of the extended cabs from the Kansas plant. Shipped to my dealer in Bozeman, MT. along with 7 others. Still own her today and it is my every day driver.

Dad bought my 01 used in 03 with 20k on er. Passed it down to me when I was 15 and he got his diesel in 2011. Started driving it with 106k? I think and now at 151k.

 

I realize that this is a 3 year old discussion.
I bought my 96 Ram Sport Extended Cab 4X4 in August of 99.
She is my daily driver still, 19 years and counting.
Bought her used with 66,000 miles and she only has 163,000 plus a few hundred.
I've replaced :
rear diff. pinion bearings
Fuel pump......... twice
Water pump
Heater Core
Front Diff. bearing hub assy's
Radiator
Drivers Door, due to rust, from a pick apart yard.
Fuel Rail crossover hose
All of that is in addition to normal maintenance.
