Also, looking for thoughts on a firearm purchase, looking for opinions from people that may own one. I'm looking to purchase my first hand gun, and NOT because I think Obama is coming for everyone's guns, but because I want one, initially I was looking at a Glock 21, then I stumbled upon the Glock 30s, a compact version, and then I came across the Smith and Wesson M&P 45.
I need to get my hands on all 3 to compare and anyone of y'all have any experience with those?
Also I might add that I don't currently have a conceal carry permit, so this would be an open carry weapon until such permit is obtained, so initially, concealment is not a huge issue.
I'll add my .02 worth of nothing. Glock's are good guns no matter how you look at them. And they are reasonably priced too so you're not taking a 2nd on the house to pay for it. I haven't bought myself a Glock yet but do know I will have one in my collection at some point. I do have a S&W MP .45 and can't say anything bad about it. First off you got to decide what caliber you want? Then pick your pistol based on that. I'm not a 9m fan so I go for .40 or .45 caliber pistols. That is just me and I know tons of folks who like a 9m.
Just like everyone else has told you, Go to a range and shoot the pistols you are thinking about buying so you can see which one you like the best. If the range doesn't have the pistol you want try to find a model in the same caliber that is close to what you want. Then go to your local gun store and handle each pistol you're thinking of buying. See which one fits your hand the best.
Good luck and get your concealed carry permit too. It is your right.

Bite me.
It was a whopping 7 degrees here yesterday, -8 with the wind chill. I hate winter. Being the smart guy that I am, you would think I would have the sense to move to a warmer climate, right? Well, maybe I am not so smart after all.

It took my wife 50+years to make that call, so don't feel bad about not moving (just yet).
