Default My lemon from hell!!! Lol

96 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9
check engine light keeps coming on for a o2 sensor with a good new o2 sensor that was put in it, and also its running all the way to 4500- 5000 and still wont go into overdrive with the light on. Lets not forget the god awful i wish it was 10 miles per gallon of fuel... Other than blowing it up or getting rid of it any ideas??? Going in circles and lost with these...

Usually, the OD light means the over drive is locked out. Some of these trucks want a Mopar sensor so maybe you have a sensor that isn't up to snuff. As to fuel mileage, the 360 (I'm old and not metric) is a thirsty engine. In good tune, especially if you have a 4X4, 12 mpg will be about the best you can expect.

What brand 02 did you put in? When the light is on it means the OD is off!

Check the wires from the o2 sensor to the computer, they can corrode or get damaged - use a VoltOhm meter - not your eyeballs I had the same issue on a 3rd gen, but my problem turned out to be the computer.

Shouldn't use Bosch, They don't hold up. Get NTK's You need to find out why the OD is not engaging. Is the speedometer working? OD won't engage until you get to around 45 mph. Also did you clear the fault codes out of the pcm after you put in the new 02? Any other codes?

The code was cleared and then it came back with the same o2 senor code... The od is not engaging at all, and its very frustrating because i dont know where to start with no code.....
