How many miles do you have on your truck!
96 Dodge 1500 5.2, 250,000 miles, and it runs like a new one. Ran Mobile One Synthetic all of it's life, big honkin' hayden trans cooler, and it is driven hard each day. I am an intensive maintenance freak, so between the truck and the '92 Lexus SC400 project I'm on, it keeps me off of the streets. The only reason I have had to cuss it was when the paint came off (white/drift) and Dodge told me to go to hell. So my grandson painted it woodland camouflage. Original trans, but lots of brakes because I usually tow to much heavy stuff.
99 2500 quad cab 4x4 Cummins,253k.....just bought it....drives like hell.....everythging attached to front end is worn out!...body rough, horrible maaco paintjob, trashed interior,...wont be long though, she will be right again soon!....bought it right, can afford to put a couple bucks into her.......
210,000 miles on my 99 2wd ram. First 100,000 repairs were water pump and radiator. The last 50,000 miles averaged about 1,000 a year in repairs including tranny, rear end plenum, cat, steering box.I would buy another with low miles if i could find one!
97 RAM 1500 4x4 360 165,000 miles. Just did plenum and ordered new O2's. Drives like the day i ordered her. Fixing to get a new paint job. Only major repairs were cracked dash, heater core, radiator, u-joints and hubs.
Before you you consider replacing the bearing assembly with an OEM stock housing, you should very seriously consider the Dyna Lock free spin hub kits. It only cost a little more than the OEM hubs but they are so much better down the road. Shoot me a PM if you want more info on them. I'm not a dealer for them...yet...but they are well worth the price IMO.
