I myself went ahead and bit the bullet on the full blown kit. Yes it isn't cheap but I will never lose my 4wd due to a vacuum hose or solenoid failure...and the next bearing replacement is going to be dirt cheap and much easier compared to new hubs.

But Quad 4x4 ( http://www.quad4x4.com/ ) is an alternative if you are going to stay with the OEM hubs.

My 96 has 270,000 and is all original except for head gaskets, one of which were pretty sure leaked since it was brand new. 318 FTW

Well, the heart of my Ram is about done. Zero compression on #2 today. Didn't check the rest but they can't be far off. Guess my schedule for the repower has been moved up on me now.

Zero compression could be a valve hanging open...

I know. But I'd rather go ahead and put in my 6.7 than mess with and invest money into the 360 gasser.

1997 5.9L 213,000 miles. I've had it for two years and I've installed a new oil pump is all. Other than that, no problems.

Not sure about the previous owner, but he obviously knew his way around a vehicle. Even the plenum was changed.
